The Direct Purchase program allows a renewable generator to interconnect and sell the power directly to Park Electric. The price paid for generation is based on the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act of 1978 (PURPA). PURPA mandates that power generated by qualifying facilities (QFs) be purchased at the “avoided cost” of the purchasing utility. Please contact the office for the current rate.
Under the Direct Purchase interconnection the generator can have up to 50 kW DC nameplate generating capacity. The generation may or may not be used for a member’s own power needs. The base rate for this program is dealt with on a case by case basis.
Requirements for this program are much different than the Net-metering Program. It is very important that you contact Park Electric very early in the planning stages if you are considering this option.
